Meet Anya! RASKC is very happy to honor Anya Ameling with Exceptional Youth recognition. This Renton resident and her mom Thuy started volunteering with RASKC in 2014. Over the years, pre-pandemic, Anya had served on our Cat Meet & Greet Team, helped at special adoption events, and also was a member our cat-care team at Covington Petco.

Anya takes classes at Bellevue College and plans to enroll at Colorado State University next year to study wildlife biology.

“Some of my favorite musicians are Giveon, Billie Eilish, Joji, and Daniel Caesar.

“In my free time I enjoy weight lifting, binge watching shows, baking, and hanging out with my dog Fin.

“Fin is a two-year-old Australian Labradoodle who’s full of energy and love. He is the sweetest/craziest pup with a huge personality.

“We also have a family cat named Stormy, and she’s quite mean. I rescued her from a neglectful situation when she was a kitten. Even with unconditional love, she still acts feral.

“My parents have always been very loving and supportive. When I first started volunteering at RASKC, I was too young to volunteer alone. So my mother took time out of her busy schedule to volunteer with me, because she knew how much it meant to me.

I have so many fond memories as a RASKC volunteer,  so it’s hard for me just to choose one. I guess I would say that one of my favorite things would probably be seeing the animals that have been there the longest finally being adopted.

“What I enjoy most about being a volunteer at RASKC would probably be being able to socialize with different animals and getting to know their unique personalities, and seeing those animals get a second chance to finally live a life they deserve.“

“My life motto is ‘everything happens for a reason,’ because there is no point to dwell on things that you can no longer control.

Thank you so very, very much, Anya!
