We are on track to open our new facility in 2027, and we’re working with 4Culture to make it beautiful and welcoming.

As part of King County’s public art program and the 1% for Art ordinance, 4Culture is heading up the effort to commission an artist to create a cohesive, two‑dimensional design for the new site. The artwork will include up to two mural designs on metal panels in the main entry, with the first serving as a backdrop for pet adoption and reunification photos. Additional digital artwork will be translated into window films to provide privacy in key areas, including meeting rooms, the hallway to veterinary services, and the community pet food bank. These installations will enhance spaces used for triage, customer waiting, adoptions, owner consultations, and other public interactions.

The selected designs will honor and celebrate the human-animal bond and RASKC’s role in supporting the pets and people in the community we serve.

The selected artist will work closely with 4Culture and RASKC staff to understand RASKC’s services, the communities served, and the emotional context of each space. They will produce up to two mural designs and at least three window‑film designs that meet fabrication requirements. All Washington State-based artists are welcome to apply.
