Pet of the Week: River

Our Pet of the Week just keeps rolling – meet River!

This young pittie mix was brought in to the Pet Adoption Center in early February by one of our animal control officers. At about 55 pounds, River is considered a medium breed dog.

River is a sweet boy, and also very strong! He is still learning how to love the outdoors, because he spent a lot of time inside before arriving at RASKC. He only likes to be outside for a few minutes before coming back in. River is looking for a family that can help him with his leash skills and with people strong enough to handle him on walks.

As a youngster, River still needs guidance to become the best dog he can be. Fortunately, he is very treat motivated and will happily “sit” and “shake” for them. River also loves plush toys, but he can destroy them in a matter of seconds. If you adopt him, you can expect to buy many toys in the future!

River has a Rambunctious Red personality, and will need a home where his people can help him learn his best doggie manners. River is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet health insurance through Trupanion, and a lifetime discount on online training from GoodPup. As our Pet of the Week, River’s adoption fee is reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply. Learn about all the great benefits that comes with a pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.

If you’re looking for an awesome boy to join your pack, River is ready for you! We also have lots of other great pets waiting for their fur-ever home at the Pet Adoption Center, 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Walk-in adoption hours are noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. weekends. You can see the profiles of all our adoptable pets anytime at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. If you have questions, contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or pets@kingcounty.gov.
