Pet of the Week: Yams
Here’s a treat for Pet of the Week – meet Yams!
This young pittie was brought in by one of our animal control officers in late November. Yams is an affectionate lovebug who would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home! She is full of energy and loves to play, making her one of our “Rambunctious Red” personality pets. Yams tends to stay calmer when the people around her stay calm. She also does better when she has lot of exercise and something to keep her mind busy.
Yams is a very smart dog and is practicing “sit,” “down,” and “shake.” Since she is still working on her manners, Yams would do best with a family who is willing to work with her so she can become the best dog she can be. Caregivers at the Pet Adoption Center have noticed that Yams seems to do well with other large dogs. When meeting dogs in her new home, Yams would do best with a slow introduction.
Can you give Yams a new home for the holidays? She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. Since she is our Pet of the Week, Yams’ adoption fee is reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply. Learn about all the benefits of pet licensing at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.
The King County Pet Adoption Center is located at 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Adoption hours are noon to 5 p.m. weekdays, and noon to 4 p.m. on weekends. The center will be closed on December 25 (Christmas Day) and January 1 (New Year’s Day). Find out more about Yams and all her friends waiting for new homes at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet.
