Pet of the Week: Sparky

Add some spark to your life with Sparky, our Pet of the Week!

This young German Shepherd came to us in early May when his previous owner sadly passed away. Caregivers describe Sparky as a friendly boy who loves getting attention. He is indeed an affectionate lovebug who is full of energy and loves to play! That’s why Sparky is one of our “Rambunctious Red” personality pets. He tends to keep calmer when the people around him stay calm, and when he has lots of exercise and something to keep his mind busy.

Caregivers at RASKC have observed that Sparky might not get along with other dogs. He may do best as the only dog in his new home, or may need a very slow introduction to other dogs. Sparky has been known to resource guard. If you take him home, both you and Sparky will both benefit from in-home guidance to help manage and improve this behavior. Sparky is also still working on his doggy manners, so he would do best with a family who is willing to work with him and help him become the best dog he can be.

Sparky is ready for his new adventures with you – he is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. Since he is our Pet of the Week, Sparky’s adoption fee is reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply. Learn about all the benefits of pet licensing at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.

Our Pet Adoption Center in Kent is open to walk-in adoption visitors weekdays from noon to 5 p.m., and weekends noon to 4 p.m. Visit our website at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet to see all of our adoptable pets, and learn more about our adoption processes.
