Pet of the Week: Harriet
Our Pet of the Week Harriet is still looking for her fur-ever home!
This 55-pound black and white pittie mix is a bundle of love and fun. Harriet has been here since early February, which makes her the shelter’s longest resident. Although the staff all adore Harriet, she would like to have a family to call her own.
Harriet is a sweet, happy girl who is filled with affection. Since she’s so full of energy, her personality color is “Rambunctious Red.” She loves to play, and does best when she has lots of exercise and something to keep her mind and mouth busy.
Along with being very affectionate, Harriet is a very smart dog – she is learning “sit,” “stay,” and “lay down.” She has also picked up on potty training! Harriet LOVES destroying stuffed toys and will even try to conquer the toys labeled “non-destructible.” Those words are considered a challenge in her book!
Harriet will need training and consistency in her new home, which will help tremendously on the road to success. Because everything is so new, her adopters will need to be patient and calm. Harriet does tend to guard her toys, so she will need some in-home guidance to manage this behavior.
Harriet has skin allergies that were quite bad when she first arrived, but a special diet has helped improve her skin and fur. She should continue on the special diet after adoption.
Come on down to meet Harriet and be dazzled by her abundant energy, sweet spirit, and unconditional love! Harriet is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption includes a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance from Trupanion. Since she’s Pet of the Week, Harriet’s adoption fee is reduced, though a pet license fee may also apply.
