Pet of the Week: Maya

Active, playful Maya is our Pet of the Week!

This young Rhodesian Ridgeback mix was brought in by her previous owners because she was a bit too rowdy. So, she’s one of our “Rambunctious Red” pets – very independent, full of energy, and loves to play!

Maya is a very spirited girl, and can be protective according to her previous family. She is also very smart and knows how to “sit” and “shake.”

She is still working on her manners, and would do best with a family who is willing to work with her to help her become the best dog she can be. Because she’s a younger dog, Maya does best when she gets lots of exercise and something to keep her mind busy. She also tends to calm down when the people around her stay calm.

Our staff and volunteers have observed that Maya may not get along with other dogs, and may do best as the only dog in her new home. She would also do best in a adult-only home as she does tend to guard her food.

Maya is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption fee includes a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion.

You can find out more about Maya on our website at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet, or visit her at the Pet Adoption Center in Kent. (And just a reminder – our Kent location will be closed on Monday, November 12 to observe Veterans Day. Our Eastside center at Kirkland Petco will be open.)
