There’s nothing actually fishy about our Pets of the Week – they’re cats named Mackerel and Sturgeon!

These two best friends would love to find a home together. Mackerel is two years old, and his buddy Sturgeon is three. These two boys were brought in to the Pet Adoption Center in November by a good Samaritan, and now they’re ready to go to a new home!

Mackerel and Sturgeon are both gentle and loving cats that like to take things slow. They can get nervous in new situations, so they need a home where their people understand that they may need some time to warm up. To help them adjust, they should be kept in a small, quiet room of your home with their food, beds, and litterbox until they get comfortable and confident enough to start exploring. Once they do, both Mackerel and Sturgeon will be affectionate lovebugs ready to cuddle up with you!

Both Mackerel and Sturgeon are neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Their adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet health insurance through Trupanion. Since they are our Pets of the Week, their adoption fee is reduced, though a pet license fee may apply. Learn about all the benefits that come with a pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.

We have dozens of cats, dogs, and other pets waiting for their fur-ever homes. Come visit the King County Pet Adoption Center to meet them weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. and weekends noon to 4 p.m. Profiles of all of our adoptable pets are also online at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet.
