Pet of the Week: Maui

We’re taking you to the islands for a tropical treat – meet Maui, our Pet of the Week!

This two-year-old bully boy was brought to the Pet Adoption Center as a stray. At 86 pounds, Maui is considered a large breed dog.

Maui is a big boy, but he’s also a big baby that loves petting and snuggles. He can be a bit fearful of strangers at first, and will sometimes bark at them, but when Maui feels safe and secure he’s all wiggles and kisses.

Since Maui is a large-breed dog, he would do best in an adult-only home, or one with older, dog-savvy children who are accustomed to big dogs. Also, Maui hasn’t met any other dogs yet, so we’re not sure how he would do with them. Due to Maui’s size and strength, it would be a good idea for any dogs already in the home to meet Maui at the Pet Adoption Center first so that our staff can help assess and get them off on the right “paw.”

Ready to make Maui your very own? He is neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccinations. His adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet health insurance through Trupanion, and a lifetime discount on online training from GoodPup. During our May “Pick Your Price” dog adoption special, you decide what you’d like to pay for Maui’s adoption fee. Note that a pet license fee may also apply. Learn about all the great benefits that come with a pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.

If you’re looking for an awesome boy to join your pack, Maui is ready for you! We also have lots of other great pets waiting for their fur-ever home at the Pet Adoption Center, 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Walk-in adoption hours are noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. weekends. You can see the profiles of all our adoptable pets anytime at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet.
