Pet of the Week: Buddy

Looking for a buddy to play with? Then let us introduce you to Buddy, our Pet of the Week!

This German Shepherd mix was found by one of our animal control officers back in late December. We thought he had found his fur-ever home, but unfortunately Buddy was returned to us in early February because he had a habit of escaping from the fenced yard.

While Buddy is one of our “Bashful Blue” personality pets, he’s also very independent and likes to do his own thing. Buddy is also quite smart, and is practicing his commands like “sit.” He would do best in a home with older children, and of course he would need a very securely fenced yard. Caregivers have noticed that Buddy might not get along with other dogs or small animals. We think Buddy will do best as the only dog in his new home, or he may need a very slow introduction to other dogs.

While he is energetic, Buddy is also a gentle and loving dog who likes to take things slow. He may get nervous in new situations, so he is looking for a family who understands that he might take some time to warm up. Once he gets to know you, Buddy will be a very devoted friend!

Can you give this boy the secure, loving, permanent home he needs? Buddy is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption comes with a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. As Pet of the Week, Buddy’s adoption fee is reduced, but a pet license fee may still apply. Find out all about the benefits of pet licensing at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.
