Pet of the Week: Ariya

It’s time again for our Pet of the Week – say hello to Ariya!

This beautiful girl came to us in early June because, while she lived with another cat, Ariya much prefers being an only kitty.

Her previous owner described her as very affectionate, and our staff agrees! Ariya loves getting attention on her own terms, and would appreciate a family that will give her the space she needs.  Because she needs some time to warm up to her new people, Ariya is one of our “Bashful Blue” pets.

Ariya has FeLV, also known as feline leukemia. FeLV is a virus that is transmitted to other cats through saliva and activities such as sharing water bowls, communal grooming, and social contact. FeLV+ cats may get sick easier, and usually require more veterinary care than non-FeLV cats. However, with proper care, these cats should have a good quality of life. FeLV cats should be “only kitties,” or live with other FeLV+ cats. As with all pets, you should consult with your regular veterinarian for additional information and a health management plan.

Ariya is spayed and microchipped. Her adoption comes with a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. Since she is our Pet of the Week, Ariya’s adoption fee has been reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply.

Ready for some love from affectionate Ariya? See her and her other friends at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. Adoptions remain by appointment only, so make your booking on the website. If you have additional questions, contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or email pets@kingcounty.gov.
