Pet of the Week: Bella

Ciao, Bella! You’re our Pet of the Week!

This female pittie mix is super friendly and loving, but also very strong and active! She came to us as a stray dog in November with another large dog, but it seems that her buddy was the only other dog Bella enjoyed being around. Because she’s so spirited, Bella is one of our “Rambunctious Red” pets, and would prefer to go to a home where she can be spoiled and loved on with no competition! She is still working on her manners, so Bella would do best with a family who is willing to work with her and help her become the best dog she can be.

While at the Pet Adoption Center, the staff noticed that Bella had several masses on her abdomen. They were able to remove the largest ones, but were not able to remove all of them due to their size. Bella has also been diagnosed with dermal hemangiosarcoma. This unfortunately means that Bella has cancer. The disease may be isolated to her skin, or it may be in other organs of her body. This means that Bella’s long-term prognosis is poor, but right now she feels pretty good. Bella is looking for a home that will help her enjoy a good quality of life for the rest of the time she has. A consultation with a veterinary oncologist is recommended.

Bella is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption includes a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice, and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. Since Bella is our Pet of the Week, her adoption fee has been waived! However, please note that a pet license is a requirement. This helps her safe return home should she become lost, and comes with additional benefits such as Vacation Pet Alert, Free Ride Home, and more!

You can find out more about Bella and her other friends on our website at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. Adoptions are by appointment only, so make a reservation online. If you have more questions, contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or email pets@kingcounty.gov.
