Pet of the Week: Auggie

Who is this handsome doggie? It’s Auggie, our Pet of the Week!

This senior Havanese was brought in by his previous family because they could no longer care for him. Auggie lived in a home with one cat, and is sweet and affectionate. He would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home!

Auggie can be quite shy, so he would do best in a calm and quiet home – that’s why we call him one of our “Bashful Blue” personality pets. He can get anxious when he’s not with his people, so it would be good for him to have a place where people are home all the time. Auggie is so friendly, he would fit in with almost any household, although he doesn’t have much experience with children.

This is a gentle and loving dog who likes to take things slow. Auggie may get nervous in new situations, and he needs a family who understands that he might take some time to warm up. Once he gets to know you, though, Auggie will be a very devoted friend!

A veterinarian has diagnosed Auggie with moderate dental tartar, so he would benefit with dental cleaning under anesthesia in the near future. He also has small wart-like growths on his neck that are probably benign, although diagnostics have not been performed. As a result, Auggie may need some specialized care, including special diet, medicines, or surgery. As always, regular veterinary visits are recommended.

Auggie is current on vaccinations and microchipped. His adoption comes with a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. Since he has been selected as a Pet of the Week, his adoption fee is waived, though a pet license fee may be added.

You can find out more about Auggie and all his other friends on our website at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. Adoptions are still by appointment only, so make a reservation on the website before visiting. If you have more questions, contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or email pets@kingcounty.gov.
