Pet of the Week: Marty

Look at that giant smile – this is Marty, our Pet of the Week!

This Australian Cattle Dog mix was brought in by his previous owner because he wasn’t an ideal fit at their apartment complex. Marty definitely has a “Rambunctious Red” personality, meaning he is very spirited and full of energy. He’s also very smart, as any ACD owner can attest.

At the Pet Adoption Center, Marty has been practicing his cues, and if you give him a few treats he will show you all of the tricks up his sleeve. Marty has also been working with agility equipment – and he loves it! This boy is pretty much up for anything, so he will need an active and creative human to keep him occupied. Marty previously lived in an all-adult home, and would do best in a similar situation and where he is the only pet.

Marty does best when he has lots of exercise and something to keep his active mind engaged. His previous owner also said that Marty tends to bark and be very noisy on leash when he sees other dogs, so his next owner will need to help him learn leash manners. Good thing Marty loves dog cookies!

Marty is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. As Pet of the Week, his adoption fee is waived, but a pet license fee may be required. License fees help fund a safe return home if Marty or any other pet gets lost, and comes with additional benefits such as Vacation Pet Alert, Free Ride Home, and more. Adopters also get a free visit to the veterinarian of their choice and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion.

Visit Marty or other furry friends on our website at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. We continue with Adoptions by Appointment, so visit the website to make a reservation to see Marty or any other pet you may be interested in having join your household.
