Pet of the Week: Mer
Mer has so much love to give, he just can’t wait to find his forever home! Could it be with you?
Mer is a 3yr old male cat, Brown Tabby, domestic short hair (ID #A579532). This handsome boy is an affectionate lovebug who would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home. He enjoys having his head scratched, as well as under his chin and behind his ears. He thinks it’s simply divine, and may even lean into the pets and stretch his neck out when you scratch under his chin. You’ll know you’re doing a good job when he closes his eyes and starts to purr. Mer is also an independent kitty who likes to do his own thing. He likes getting attention on his own terms and can get a bit overstimulated with petting, so keep an eye out for signs he may need a break. He does tend to give little love nips when petting as well. Mer has a RED personality. He can take a little bit to warm up, but once he does he has a spirited and fun-loving personality! Because of his shy nature, he would do best in a calm, quiet home.
Mer is FIV+ and will need to be either an only kitty, or live with other FIV+ kitties. He will also need to be indoor-only. While FIV+ kitties can have shorter lifespans, many can live many years with proper management and care. Mer may need specialized care, and of course regular veterinary visits are always recommended. The officers and veterinarians at the shelter will be happy to answer your questions when you come visit Mer.
Mer is neutered, litter box trained, current on vaccinations, and micro chipped. His $30 adoption fee also includes a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice, and 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion.
You can also meet Mer and other animals available for adoption, 7 days a week at RASKC’s King County Pet Adoption Center in Kent, located at 21615 64th Ave S; Monday – Friday: 12 noon – 6 p.m., Saturday – Sunday: 12 noon – 5 p.m. Phone: 206-296-7387 (PETS), email pets@kingcounty.gov.
