Pet of the Week: Trigger

Introducing Trigger, our Pet of the Week!

Trigger is a six-year-old German Shorthaired Pointer mix who came to us after he was abandoned by his previous owner. He’s an affectionate guy who would be thrilled to cuddle up with you! Trigger is also a very smart dog and already knows how to sit, stay, and come.

He’s full of energy and loves to play, so we’ve tagged Trigger as a Rambunctious Red. He tends to calm down more when the people around him stay calm, and he does best when he has lots of exercise and something to keep his mind occupied.

Trigger doesn’t get along with other dogs and will do best as the only dog in your home. He also wouldn’t do well in dog parks or other off-leash dog areas.

Because he can be a handful at times, Trigger would do best in an adults-only home with previous Pointer experience. Since he’s a hunting-type dog, we recommend no other pets, as his instinct is to chase and catch (and he sometimes doesn’t like to give his prize back… he can get very possessive).

Trigger is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption fee includes a free visit to the veterinarian of your choice and 30 days of pet insurance through Trupanion. And during October for Adopt a Shelter Dog Month, we’re offering $50 off adoption fees on all dogs thanks to a generous donation from Lagunitas Brewing Company and Best Friends Animal Society.

You can find out more about Trigger on our website, www.kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet, or visit Trigger in person at our center in Kent.
