Meet Elsie!  RASKC is super happy to award Exceptional Youth recognition to Elsie Leonard. A sophomore at Monroe High School, Elsie started volunteering on regular shifts on RASKC’s Kirkland Pet-Care Team in March 2015 with her mom. They continued doing so until the pandemic, and we look forward to their returning when it’s safe.  Elsie […]

Here’s a prime pooch looking for a new home – Optimus, our Pet of the Week! This nearly seven-year-old boy was brought in by his previous owner because they were moving and unable to bring him with. Optimus is an American Foxhound mix who tips the scales at about 120 pounds. He will need help […]

We’d like to introduce you to Hilda, our Pet of the Week! She was brought to the Pet Adoption Center by a good Samaritan in late February. This sweet and gentle older lady would enjoy a nice, quiet home to retire in. Hilda is calm and loves being petted, especially on her neck and chin. […]

Sweet, shy Marlee is our Pet of the Week! Her previous owner described her as shy, […]

Thank you, Gabrielle!

Meet Oscar! RASKC is enormously pleased to shine the spotlight on Outstanding New Volunteer Oscar Avila. He serves as a “red” Dog Walker, which means he walks the dogs in our adoption area who are in most need of skillful guidance. In pre-COVID times, Oscar worked a weekly two-hour shift with RASKC dogs. In his mid-20s, bilingual, a rugby player, and a resident of Kent, Oscar has shown tremendous enthusiasm. He has even assisted with a Warm 106.9 “Wet Nose Wednesday” video for the radio station’s website that featured one of our difficult-to-adopt “red” dogs.

We have come up with a few “outside the box” volunteer opportunities for our community. This has resulted in some creative outlets to spruce up our environment. Kye recently dropped off a bucket full of painted rocks. RASKC staff had a blast using them to decorate our upgraded pet food bank, and they have brightened the space up as you’re approaching our front doors. See video below, images and Q&A with the artist: Kye!

Thank you Kye for thinking of RASKC and sharing your hobby with us
