Pet of the Week: Laika

Experience love to the moon and back with Laika, our Pet of the Week!

This almost three-year-old German Shepherd mix was brought in to the Pet Adoption Center last year, and has been spending the last few months with one of our awesome foster volunteers.

Laika’s foster mom says she gets along with the other resident dogs who come in all shapes and sizes, so we think she’ll do well in a home with other dogs. However, as always, a slow introduction is best. Given time, Laika seems to warm up to other dogs.

Laika is very smart and affectionate, and motivated to learn. Because of her history as a stray, she can be somewhat fearful but with the right people building her confidence daily, Laika is ready to bloom into the dog she was meant to be. Her ideal home is a place with a secure yard where she can run around to burn off energy and then be a couch potato the rest of the day. Laika can be shy at first, but once she trusts you she is incredibly loving and wants to be by your side.

Rocket in to the Pet Adoption Center to meet Laika soon! She is spayed, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption comes with many benefits, including an invitation for Fetch Pet Insurance. Fetch offers the most comprehensive plan in North America with no restrictions on breed, age, or size. Together, RASKC and Fetch are making sure pets are happy and healthy in their new forever homes! Dog adopters from RASKC also get a $40 coupon good for training from Rover.

As our Pet of the Week, Laika’s adoption fee has been reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply. Learn about all the benefits that come with a King County pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.
