Pet of the Week: Jake

Say hello to Jake, our Pet of the Week!

This four-year-old American Foxhound boy came to us because his previous family had to move to a new home that didn’t allow dogs. At 72 pounds, Jake is considered a large breed dog.

Jake is a true hound – he LOVES the sound of his own voice! He would do best in a home where his vocal nature is appreciated and neighbors won’t mind hearing from him regularly. Not only is he a barker, but he likes to “bay” as well – a long, loud, howling type of bark typical for hounds. While it may be possible to train Jake to bark and bay less, he will always be a “talkative” boy.

Jake is fully house-trained and does well on a leash. He was previously part of a multi-dog household, and may like being part of a “pack” again with dogs his own size. As always though, a slow introduction to new dogs is advised.

Jake is ready for his fur-ever home – could yours be the one? He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Jake’s adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet health insurance from Trupanion and a rebate on training through Rover. As our Pet of the Week, Jake’s adoption fee is reduced, but a pet license fee may still apply. Learn about all the awesome benefits that come with a pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.
