The power of second chances: Hubert’s story
Hubert’s story is a testament to the power of second chances and community support. Hubert was discovered in Tukwila and posted as a stray in the Lost Dogs of King County Facebook group. A compassionate rescuer from Useless Bay Sanctuary safely captured him and brought him to RASKC on March 9. His zest for life and eagerness to learn quickly caught the attention of our staff and volunteers.
Recognizing his potential, RASKC partnered with the Washington State Department of Corrections to explore Hubert’s future as a K-9 narcotics detection dog. On May 16, Hubert began his evaluation for the program. If selected, he’ll undergo rigorous training to become a certified narcotics detection K-9, following in the footsteps of other rescue dogs who have successfully transitioned into this vital role.
Hubert’s journey is a powerful reminder of the impact of community efforts and the potential within every animal, regardless of their beginnings. Stay tuned for more updates on Hubert’s transformation from stray to K-9 hero!
