Pet of the Week: Baloo

Coming right to you is Baloo, our Pet of the Week!

This one-year-old pittie mix boy was brought in to the Pet Adoption Center in early July. At nearly 80 pounds, he’s considered a large breed dog.

Baloo is a very smart boy, and is practicing his commands: sit, down, and paw. Since he’s just a year old, he’s still got a lot of puppy energy – he LOVES to play! He will need lots of exercise and activities to keep his mind busy.

Since Baloo is young, he’s still working on his manners. He will need a home where his people can work with him to become the best dog he can be. Because he’s so big and energetic, he would do best in an adults-only home, or one with older children. Baloo has also been known to resource guard, behavior that is intended to convince humans or other dogs to stay away from a particular “treasure.” Baloo tends to guard his toys the most. His new owners will benefit from in-home guidance on how to manage and improve this behavior.

Baloo is ready for you – are you ready for him? He is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet health insurance through Trupanion and a lifetime discount on online training from GoodPup. Now through September 10 during our “Clear The Shelters” special, you can adopt Baloo (or any pet) for just $30 – the cost of a pet license. Learn about all the great benefits that come with a pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.

You can find out more about Baloo and all his friends by visiting kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. Or, better yet, come down to the King County Pet Adoption Center in person. We’re located at 21615 64th Ave. S. in Kent. Walk-in adoption hours are noon to 5 p.m. weekdays and noon to 4 p.m. weekends.
