Pet of the Week: Oro
This “golden” boy is Oro, our Pet of the Week!
This affectionate lovebug was brought in to the Pet Adoption Center in late May by a good Samaritan. At 64 pounds, Oro is considered a large breed dog.
Oro is just two years old, so he’s still full of “puppy pep.” He’s been learning commands like sit, stay, come, and down during his stay with us. He’s very trainable thanks to his high food motivation, but he does need some help with his manners to take treats gently.
Oro loves cuddling, but he’s not very independent, so it would be good for him to have someone around in his new home most of the time. He is all muscles and energy, so a home without young children would be best for him. He does best when he gets lots of exercise and activities to keep his mind busy.
Caregivers at RASKC have noted that Oro might not get along with other animals, and may need to be the only pet in his new home. Dog parks may not be the best environment for him, but fortunately there are lots of “sniff spots” in our area. Sniff spots are like an AirBnB for dogs. They can hang out by themselves (with their people of course), without the worry of running into strange doggos. Some sniff spots even have doggy pools to cool off in!
If you’re ready to open your heart and home to Oro, Oro is ready for you! He comes current on vaccinations, neutered, and microchipped. You also get 30 days of opt-in pet health insurance through Trupanion, and a lifetime discount on online training from GoodPup. During our “Pick Your Price” promotion this month, you get to decide what you’d like to pay for Oro’s adoption fee! Note that a pet license fee may still apply.
