Pet of the Week: Jefferson

Movin’ on up with Jefferson, our Pet of the Week!

This young black and white pittie pup was brought in to the Pet Adoption Center by a good Samaritan in late September. At 42 pounds, he’s considered “medium sized,” but since Jefferson is only seven months old, he’s sure to grow more.

Jefferson is a very “talkative” boy, and would be thrilled to cuddle up with you at home! He is working on his manners, with click training for “quiet” – he’s getting the hang of it, especially when it comes with treats! Everything is still pretty new to him, so patience and calm will be key for his new people.

Since Jefferson is still a puppy, he will need a home where someone can be available for consistent training and socialization. He is not potty trained or crate trained yet, so he will need people who are patient and understanding and can teach him these skills and more. While he is a bit shy, Jefferson has a “Rambunctious Red” personality – full of energy and spunk! Lots of exercise and activities to keep his young puppy mind busy will help.

Are you ready for a lifetime of love and companionship? Jefferson is ready for you! He comes neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet health insurance through Trupanion. Thanks to our “Fall in Love” dog adoption special in November, Jefferson’s adoption fee has been waived, though a pet license fee may still apply. Learn about all the benefits that come with a pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.

We have many dogs, cats, and other critters looking for their forever homes – see them all anytime at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. The King County Pet Adoption Center is open to walk-in adopters weekdays from noon to 5 p.m. and weekends noon to 4 p.m. We will be closed on Saturday, November 11 for the Veterans Day holiday.
