Pet of the Week: Hippo

Hip hip hooray – Hippo is our Pet of the Week!

This gorgeous gray girl was brought in by a good Samaritan in early July. Hippo weighs about 76 pounds, making her a large breed dog. She is a little “chonky” and would benefit from losing a bit of weight.

Hippo is full of energy and loves to play! Because of her energy level, she’s one of our “Rambunctious Red” personality pets. She would do best in a home with older children, or no children, and where she can get lots of walks and other activities to keep her mind busy. Hippo would also prefer to be an “only pet” in her new home.

Hippo is very treat motivated, but hasn’t quite learned yet to do commands for them. She was not taught basic doggie manners, so she will need people who can work with her to become the best dog she can be.

Hippo is ready for you – are you ready for her? She is spayed, up to date on vaccinations, and microchipped. Her adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. Since she is our Pet of the Week, Hippo’s adoption fee has been reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply. Learn about all the benefits that come with a pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.

The Pet Adoption Center has dozens of wonderful companions just waiting for you to meet them. Walk-in adoption hours are weekdays noon to 5 p.m., and weekends noon to 4 p.m. You can see all of our adoptable animals at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet. If you have questions, contact RASKC at 206-296-7387 (PETS) or email pets@kingcounty.gov.
