Pet of the Week: Panzer

It’s time to meet our Pet of the Week – here’s Panzer!

This handsome boy came to us in late May after he tried to get on a school bus with some kids. At 88 pounds, Panzer is considered a large breed dog – and he has strength to match his size and weight.

Panzer is seven years old, but still young at heart with a good amount of energy. His new family will need to understand German Shepherds as a breed. They are very smart and loyal dogs, but can be prone to anxiety and nervousness. Adopters will need to maintain his current high confidence level while teaching him new skills. While he’s generally responsive to handlers, Panzer still has some learning to do. He is still learning to walk on a leash next to a person and not charge ahead all the time.

As one of our “Rambunctious Red” personality pets, Panzer will need to get out for regular walks and active time with his people playing fetch, tug, or even going for a long hike. Panzer can be a bit forward with other dogs and should probably be the only animal in the home due to his size and strength.

Panzer is all ready for you: he’s neutered, microchipped, and current on vaccinations. His adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. Since Panzer is our Pet of the Week, his adoption fee has been reduced, though a pet license fee may still apply. Learn about all the great benefits that come with a pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.

There are lots of other dogs, cats, and other critters waiting to meet you at the Pet Adoption Center – come check them out! We’re open for walk-in adoptions from noon to 5 p.m. on weekdays, and noon to 4 p.m. on weekends. You can see all our adoptable animals online at kingcounty.gov/AdoptAPet.
