Pet of the Week: Sitka
You don’t have to go all the way to Alaska to see Sitka – just come to the Pet Adoption Center to meet our Pet of the Week!
Sitka is a five-year-old German Shepherd mix who came to us in mid-April because his previous family’s living situation changed. At 72 pounds, he’s considered a large breed dog.
Sitka is a very smart boy, and already knows quite a few things like “sit,” “come,” “down,” and “shake.” He is also full of energy and loves to play! Sitka seems to do well with other dogs that have a gentle play style. When meeting dogs in a new home, both of them would benefit from a slow introduction. Sitka did previously live with a young child, but because of his energy level, Sitka could be too much for them at times.
Sitka has a “Bashful Blue” personality. He’s a gentle and loving dog that likes to take things slow. Once he gets to know you though, Sitka will be a very devoted friend! When he comes out of his shell, he becomes a rambunctious “puppy” with lots of playful energy! Sitka also has an independent streak, and may get nervous in new situations, but with kind and gentle guidance he will become the best pup ever.
Would you like to bring Sitka into your heart and home? He is neutered, current on vaccinations, and microchipped. His adoption comes with many benefits, including 30 days of opt-in pet insurance through Trupanion. And since he’s our Pet of the Week, Sitka’s adoption fee has been reduced. A pet license fee may still apply, though. Learn about all the benefits that come with a pet license at kingcounty.gov/LicenseMyPet.
